This Winter 2024 project is a collaboration between two programs/courses at the Longo Faculty of Business:
- BAKE 253 Bakery Management and Entrepreneurship, taught by Chef Alastair Gray, to students of the Baking and Pastry Arts Management program
- BUS 2504 Web Development course, taught by Hanadi Alnawab, to students of the Digital Business Management & Fashion Management BComm programs
Humber’s Bakers & Pastry teams are getting ready to participate in:
- The local Farmer’s Market, which usually takes place during the Summer months on designated days and times of the week
- Canada’s largest annual fair, the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) scheduled for Aug 15 – Sept 1, 2025
The bakers will start the process in Chef Gray’s class by developing a plan to open a bakeshop/cafe’ in the GTA with full menu and one signature item that can be sold at their local Farmer’s Market, and possibly, at the CNE!
Our Digital Business teams will be supporting the bakers’ applications to the CNE by developing the bakers’ digital presence:
- developing an information website using WordPress.com
- creating promotional materials as needed (flyers, posters, buttons … etc)
We will be exploring AI tools to generate content for the website (copy, images, and video), and to design custom cakes.
